Primary DNS Update

We’re not going to be releasing the updated Primary DNS service in June as previously anticipated. Since the control center interface for it is being rebuilt from scratch we decided it was the best time to add a templating feature, which has been requested often in the past. This will make Primary DNS a bit more than the basic thing it’s been in the past, but hopefully worth the wait.

We’re sad to report that there was a fatal rollover accident in our driveway this morning. As of now Airway Drive is closed until further notice. Our office can still be accessed via Barron and Longley, then turning on Louie heading towards Airway.

For details see KOLO 8 News.

UPDATE: as of 14:45 Airway Drive has reopened to traffic.

New Default DNSBLs: ivmSIP and ivmSIP/24

On the heels of our previous announcements we have two more DNSBLs that we’re adding to the default list: ivmSIP and ivmSIP/24. These are available individually as “sip.invaluement.local” and “sip24.invaluement.local” through the account control center DNSBL settings. If you’re not using our default list you’ll need to add them to your configuration in order to take advantage of them. In our test phase we observed excellent results and decided to roll them out officially.

There’s also a new URI DNSBL to compliment content scanning: ivmURI. This has been added to SpamAssassin as INVALUEMENT_URI and INVALUEMENT_IP_URI. The DNSBL tests also have corresponding content tests: RCVD_IN_IVMSIP and RCVD_IN_IVMSIP24.

Weather Camera Moved

The weather camera was moved to a more south-east facing direction. The original intent was to be able to see Mt. Rose, but we were tired of basically staring at the trees across the street. With this adjustment the camera is now looking across the approach for runways 34 R/L at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) so you my occasionally get to see an airplane or C-130 from the 152d Airlift Wing, if you’re in to that sort of thing.
